Order the Crit'Air sticker
Good to know
When do I need a Crit'Air sticker?
In French low emission zones (ZFE) and during traffic restrictions imposed in smog episodes. This also applies to foreign cars, motorhomes, motorcycles and commercial vehicles. Important: the sticker alone does not entitle you to enter – individual cities can ban the higher categories (in Paris and Lyon, for example, even Crit'Air 3 cars are not allowed in).
The six categories
- Electric, hydrogen
- Gas (LPG, CNG), plug-in hybrid, petrol from 2011
- Petrol 2006–2010, diesel from 2011
- Petrol 1997–2005, diesel 2006–2010
- Diesel 2001–2005
- Diesel 1997–2000
The category depends on the vehicle, the fuel and the date of first registration. Guide values for passenger cars. Cars first registered before 1997 do not receive a sticker.
Where should the sticker go?
On the inside of the windscreen, clearly legible from outside.
Frequently asked questions
When will I receive a confirmation?
After you apply, you will receive a provisional certificate by email, usually within 24 hours. You can carry it with you as proof until the sticker arrives.
How long does the sticker take to arrive?
The sticker is sent by post, always to the address shown on the vehicle registration certificate, so it is important that the address you enter matches the one on the certificate. Delivery can take several weeks, so it is worth applying in good time.
What is the fine?
For cars, the fine is usually 68 euros; it is higher for lorries and buses.
How long is the sticker valid?
As long as the vehicle and its registration number stay the same. If the sticker is lost or damaged, or the windscreen is replaced, you will need to apply for a new one.
